We are constantly surrounded by noise and the simple truth of the matter is that not all of it is pleasant. The stand-alone application AudioNoise can block out disturbing sounds by playing a low level broadband noise. White, pink, and so-called physiological noise can be generated with the application and thus block the disturbing noise.

AudioNoise works with Windows 2000, XP, and newer versions of the Microsoft’s operating system. To get the application up and running on a Windows-powered machine, you will have to go through a standard setup procedure. This means you’ll have to download a small executable (less than 1Mb), run it, and then follow the instructions presented by a setup wizard.

The AudioNoise interface is divided into four sections: Actions (start playback, stop playback, exit the application, and more), Audio Settings (choose the output and the volume), Noise Settings (pick a type of noise, adjust the frequency rate, and more), and File Settings. It should not take you long to get accustomed to the AudioNoise interface.

While running on your Windows-powered machine, AudioNoise can generate physiological noise, white noise, and pink noise. If you want to, you can restrict the noise to a certain frequency rate. You can also apply an effect to the noise you select, like the surf effect for example. Whichever you choose, please note that the free version is limited to 15 minutes of playback. You will be reminded of this fact every time you launch AudioNoise.

Go get AudioNoise and see for yourself how it can block out annoying sounds.

Pros

Little time and effort will be spent on downloading and installing AudioNoise. The application provides support for multiple types of noise and multiple types of effects. There are several settings to play with.

Cons

The free version is limited to 15 minutes of playback; nag screen.
